New Kids on the Block

There have been many "boy bands" who have come and gone, having a bit of success and then falling by the wayside.  However, one of the original "boy bands," who really paved the way for the rest of them, is New Kids on the Block.  After a long absence, they have reunited and found renewed success in the last few years.

The group first got together in Boston in the 1980s and had five members: Joey McIntyre, Danny Wood, Donnie Wahlberg, and brothers Jonathan and Jordan Knight.  Each boy had a different personality and sound, meaning that fans each had their own favorite among the group members.  Their first hit song, "The Right Stuff," instantly placed them in the household name category and their popularity exploded.  Their hit album, Hangin' Tough, would spawn several hit singles, music videos, and an extremely popular world tour.

They had a few more albums after that, but none were really as popular or as memorable as their original one.  Eventually, as the music scene changed, and grunge and R&B became more popular, the band lost favor and separated.  The members each went on to explore different avenues:  Joe and Jordan recorded solo albums; Danny becoming a producer; Jonathan got into real estate; and Donnie found the most solo success as an actor in movies and television.

The band reunited in 2008 with an album and a tour which continues today.  The group was a bit surprised that their fans of old were still so devoted to them and their fans were so happy to relive their youth and get back that bit of magic from when they were teens.  If you want to get tickets to New Kids on the Block concerts, check out EventTicketDepot for the best seats and the best prices.
