New York Giants
Despite their name, the New York Giants of the NFL do not actually play football in New York. Rather, they play their home games in East Rutherford, New Jersey. They will play their games this season at the Meadowlands Stadium, which they will share with another NFL team, the New York Jets. The team has played in New Jersey since the 1970s and has the unique privilege of having fans from two different states, both New York and New Jersey.
The Giants have red, white, and blue as their colors, as a tribute to the colors of the American flag. Given that they are from the New York area, they especially want to show their patriotism and pride. The team has been in existence since 1925, making them one of the oldest continuous playing teams in the National Football League.
They have won four Super Bowls, the most recent in 2007. That championship was unexpected to say the least, as few gave the team a chance, even though they were led by quarterback Eli Manning, who is the brother of Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, also a Super Bowl winner.
Fans who attend games at the newly opened Meadowlands Stadium are in for a real treat. The stadium, which opened on April 10, 2010, seats 82,500 fans and has all of the great amenities that the newer stadiums have that were not available in the older Giants stadium, where the team formerly played. The stadium is the second largest in the NFL after FedEx Field, where the Washington Redskins play.
Given that the stadium is brand new, people are going to be clamoring for tickets to see the Giants play even more so than they normally would. If you want to get a piece of history and see a game at the new facility, check out the ticket availability here at EventTicketDepot.
