Ok Go

Every once and awhile a band's gimmicks or attention getting antics can supersede the actual music that the band plays, getting their sound lost in all the media attention.  While this can be a negative thing if the gimmicks have to do with hard partying or other negative attributes, in the case of Ok Go, their attempts to get attention are focused on their music.  Specifically, they have made a pattern of creating music videos that are so spectacular and so unbelievable that they quickly become viral videos and the links to the videos are passed around to millions of people, even those who may not have any idea who Ok Go are.  This is great for the band because it can get their music heard by people who might otherwise never hear it.

The first video they made that was truly spectacular involved the band members doing a choreographed routine on moving treadmills, for the song Here it Goes Again.  Those words alone hardly do justice to what would become one of the most seen videos that year.  The intricate moves that each person had to do, jumping and stepping at just the right moment as to not fall and ruin in the shot were a sight to see.  Not to be outdone, however, the band also had a hit video this year with a lengthy video for the song This Too Shall Pass, that involved an intricate system of pulleys, levers, dominoes, and other devices that all worked in tune to move continuously throughout the video until the very end.  The whole thing was shot in one continuous take, although they had to do the video more than once to capture an error free run.

Given that the band is known more for their videos than their music, it may cause you to wonder whether their lives shows could possibly live up to the videos.  Of course, the only way to properly answer that question is to see the band in person for yourself.  Check out the listings on EventTicketDepot to find tickets in your area.
