Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers, who are in the National Football League, got their name because the city of Pittsburgh, in Pennsylvania, is known as the "steel city."  This is because they made a name for themselves with the large amount of steel that was processed and exported from the city.  The team began in 1933 and they are the oldest NFL team in what is now the AFC division.  Similar to their MLB counterparts, the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Steelers have black and gold as their colors.  They have a much different logo, though.  It is a circle with three stars: yellow, blue, and red, and the word "Steelers."  The logo was inspired by the industry logo of steel companies and was put into use in 1962.

Fans of the Steelers are called "Steeler Nation" and they are a loud and devoted bunch.  They can be seen tailgating hours before game time, chests painted and cheering loudly.  Come game time, they are hard on the opposing team, while also cheering hard for their own team.  The team has had a lot to cheer for in recent years as the team has played very well.  In fact, they won the Super Bowl in 2008.  Although they have not made the playoffs in the last two seasons, fan support remains strong.

The Steelers play at Heinz Field, where they have played since 2001.  Prior to that they played for 30 years at Three Rivers Stadium, where the Pittsburgh Pirates also played at the time.  The new stadium seats over 65,000 people. It is a great place to watch a football game, so you should think about getting tickets to see the Steelers play there.  You can get tickets to all the games here on EventTicketDepot.  In fact, they have tickets to just about every NFL game that takes places throughout the country.
